Christmas Fun

We had a great Christmas! It was great having all the grandparents in one place....not so great for the little boy who has figured out that if he cries he WILL be picked up. Actually great for him not so great for the momma. Heaven help me when they leave :)

Maximillian got his first pair of Christmas Jammies (we all did :) but I only made Max get his picture taken...he can't complain yet)

Max can totally tell what's happening as he opens up his first Christmas present ever from Momma and Daddy

Christmas Day

We spent Christmas Eve at our house with our American friend Jen and had a fish and steak fry. We opened presents and made lots of yummy food for the next day.

Christmas day we went over to Sam's family's and had a FUN day. Everyone was there except Sam's Aunt (who we DEARLY missed) who stayed up in Auckland for the day. I did end up feeding Max through dinner once again and then dessert. I even had such a good feeding plan/schedule but somehow I still ended up eating 30 minutes after everyone else :)

The mothers hit it off at the wedding and picked right back up where they left off. Debbie made a traditional Kiwi dessert, Pavlova, and my dad made his famous rum cake!

I wanted to bring a gingerbread kit for James and Jade and Jasmine (Sam's cousins) to make. My dad knew last year we didn't have a kit and made it from scratch so he brought me one in his suitcase!! I had happen to find one at Kmart here so there was two now--PERFECT!

Funnily enough the one from NZ didn't really work. James and Jasmine (The oldest cousin) did that one and Jade and Rosie made the other one. James and Jasmine's house collapsed from too much frosting. Rosie and Jade's made it just fine and they were quite proud!

We got to skype with my family back in America which was SO fun to see (especially see my Aunt Denise! LOVER HER!) Then we got to skype our life long friends the Stevensons! It was so great to be in NZ and still spend part of our Christmas' together. It was great to have them meet Max (and Sam) and just catch up for a bit. WHAT A TREAT!

Then to give all of you who know me really well a good Christmas laugh here are some pictures you might not believe.

Tom got a boxer puppy from his sweet girlfriend for Christmas. And Sam and I BOTH loved her. She is super cute and the exact dog that Sam had when he was growing up. I actually not only liked this dog but loved her sitting on my lap. She is a week older than Max and will become his good buddy we think. I might even agree to go with Tom to get the puppy's shots to repay the favor :)

The puppy was quite sweet with Max. He had just woke up and was ready to eat but was screaming while I got some water. She was very concerned about him and was sweet with him as he cried.

Now all of you that know me can actually say that I liked an animal! It's not ours though so we can send her home and just take care of our little Maximillian!

Merry Christmas to you all from our families to yours!!!

  1. Merry Christmas Dana!! It's so weird to see summer-y photos on christmas day...okay, not that weird considering i live in so cal and we usually have an 80 degree christmas, but still!

about the feeding the baby during meals...welcome to motherhood :) i think i've missed every holiday meal for the last 5 years due to a nursing child. they always pick the time you're most eager to sit down and feed yourself!
