Life is GOOD in the South Island
Sam asked me what I will change "Life is Good at the Beach" to once we moved. I think I'm still going to hold out that I will like the beach town by the university and that we can find a house there. Keeping hope alive. For now I can honestly say I love my first impressions.
Its only autumn, so I am being realistic, but the cold isn't bad. It's such a dry cold. I feel like we are in Redding or Lake Tahoe. I'm not going to lie, I love it! If I have to be in cold weather I would rather dry crisp cold. Our little hotel/furnished apartment is tiny! But it has great common areas and funnily enough no one is in them at 6am. Insert sarcastic wink ;). Max and I are watching Sesame Street & playing, giving daddy a much needed rest after driving the entire way the last three days!
I automatically found cool things. American size washer & dryer with American size power. I did a HUGE load, after three years of tiny ones, and dried all our clothes in an hour. Miracle. Sigh. So nice after three years. I googled the closest Starbucks. Yep. God's goodness :: a block away. And the best gift of all is being warm, even hot indoors. It is such a great thing to walk in stores & our apartment & feel hot.
Max is wanting breakfast and the day needs exploring so for now we will say good bye. When I get the computer out I will add all the pictures of our trip down.
