(ugh! It doesnt put them in the order I want! Hopefully you can figure it out)
I have to admit I forgot how small New Zealand is when we left. Sam and I drove across the States and in my head I was geared up for that. Nope. NZ is about the length of California. It took a tank and a half & two and a half days. Only because we stopped early one day.
Max had a good time. We stopped along the way at friends in Wellington. Meila is one of Max's first friends. We had a great time seeing them. Celeste is due with her second baby & just recently moved too. We talked, laughed until we cried and talked mom stuff & barely slept. But it was just what I needed!
We were supposed to stop at Haylry, Ryan & Finn's, but poor Finn had the chicken pox. We were bummed to miss them, but get to see them in September.
We got to ride the Interislander, a huge ferry to the South Island. I was practically giddy! When Max was first born there were tons of commercials for the ferry, complete with an annoying jingle that got stuck in your head. Max had fun. I was expecting bigger (of course I was as a true American) but it was still fun. Max loves boats so he loved riding a big one and getting a snack in a boat. He also got to play in a cool slide & playground they had. And he got to eat a yummy breakfast that he thought was SO fun.
We stopped in Kaikorua, a famous whale watching beach town. Max was ecstatic because their beach was full of rocks!
Plus mama found a Starbucks in Christchurch.
Then we drove into Dunedin. Our new home.
