The first environmental disaster I have seen so close. The NZ beach in the news is our little beach we love and go to almost daily. Last summer when Max was super little I pictured this summer coming up with Max being one and us being able to go to the beach every day. In all this horrible winter weather I would find myself day dreaming with towels in hand, Max walking with me and us running to the sand then coming home for a big rest and going back again. Looks like that my just stay a day dream. The oil is coming fast. Max and I checked it out yesterday but it wasn't bad yet. A few little globs of oil, but with the weather not helping and some of the worst storms in a few months the oil will be piling up this morning. UGH. We will wait to see what happens this summer. But as of now it's not look good for the economy of the area. I am so sad to listen to the fisherman and shop owners as their excitement over summer is quickly squelched by the tons of oil (and now containers full of stuff) washing up on the beach.
In other news: Max LOVES planes. Sam had Sunday off so off we went to the airport in the afternoon to see the planes take off. Max was in little boy heaven.
Hey Dana I read about the cargo ship and saw pictures. I knew right away it was your lovely beach and I got so sad. When will "they " learn...But from all the reports I have read there are plenty of agencies ready to step in and help with the cleanup so perhaps it won't be so terrible. !! I will surely pray for a fast recovery..poor sea life..
